Nine Weekends of Huzzah – Texas Renaissance Festival opens September 30, 2017 for an expanded season
New Heroes and Villains Themed Weekend leads new offerings for the 43year old event
HOUSTON (July 25, 2017) The Texas Renaissance Festival – recently voted one of the 300 best festivals in the world by Everfest – is offering guests and expanded nine weekend season this fall to the 43 year old event in Todd Mission, Texas. With more food, fun and magic in store, Festival organizers added a new themed weekend to the long-standing mix. From September 30 to November 26, 2017, the Texas Renaissance Festival will present nine themed weekends, with the introduction of the new themed weekend, Heroes and Villains (Nov. 11-12).
“Welcoming a remarkable 600,000 attendees each year, the Festival intends to exceed its loyal patron’s expectations with an additional themed weekend and entertainment for the 2017 season,” says General Manager Terre Albert.
Each weekend, a different theme comes to life across the 55-acre festival grounds including:
Oktoberfest (September 30 & October 1)
1001 Dreams (October 7 & 8)
Pirate Adventure (October 14 & 15)
Roman Bacchanal (October 21 & 22)
All Hallows’ Eve (October 28 & 29)
Barbarian Invasion (November 4 & 5)
Heroes and Villains (November 11 & 12)
Highland Fling (November 18 & 19)
Celtic Christmas (November 24, 25, & 26)
Texas Renaissance Festival has something for everyone, including an exciting 16th century village complete with five enchanting wedding venues, over 400 shoppes from which to purchase unique and handmade items by local artisans and merchants, as well as a student-only School Days event. The Festival also boasts 200 acres of campgrounds for tent camping and RVs, and TRF After Dark, an after-hours entertainment venue for adult patrons. Kids age 12 and younger are admitted free of charge every Sunday of the festival.
New performers this season include the charming, family friendly antics of Fool Hearty performing on the Florence Garden Gazebo. Joining Fool Hearty on the Florence Gazebo is the hauntingly enchanted music of The Nightingale. The Greek Agora presents the amazing acrobatics of Cirque Mythos and the newly expanded Polish Pub presents those bawdy songsmiths, The Two Merry Men.
The King’s Royal Chefs have been laboring all year to come up with new taste sensations for all our regal guests. Try these two award-winning variations on the fan favorite turkey leg: The Honey-Baked Turkey Leg and the Bourbon-Molasses Turkey Leg, as well as a number of other new tasty treats fit for a King (or a queen).
Great new guest experiences await young and old within the lanes of New Market Village. For the adults, their Majesties present The Puffin Coffee Bar and Hookah Lounge. For the children, great interactive fun awaits them at Red Daisy Crafts for Kids, located in the Florence Garden Market near the Florence Gazebo. The Florence Garden Market also welcomes Summerwood Soaps, Battlemaiden Studio, Round Table Gourmet, and Caveman Tobacconist to the area. Also, seek out the unusual treasures of Opinions in Bone near the Basilica as well as Storm Leather Works located near the Royal Mint.
Coming off a record-breaking season of 678,550 attendees walking through the gates in 2016, guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid lines at the main gates on Festival days. Advanced discount tickets can be purchased at participating Walgreens stores or online at the Festival website, TexRenFest.com. Advance tickets are $23.95 for adults and $11.95 for children ages 5 to 12 (children 4 and younger are always admitted free of charge). Gate admission prices are $30 for adults and $15 for children.
