Zilker Kite Festival |
|
The annual March Zilker Kite Festival is an Austin springtime tradition of building, flying and watching kites in Zilker Park. The Exchange Club of Austin is the proud founder and continuing sponsor of the Kite Festival. Want the perfect family event?...Something affordable, fun and alcohol-free? Do not miss this Festival! The original mission was promoting creativity in children. Continuing that theme, the Exchange Club provides a free kite-making workshop on the field. All kite contest events are free and open to all with a homemade kite. The contests include highest angle, largest, smallest, most unusual, strongest pulling, and a 50-yard dash. Many categories have adult and children divisions, so everyone can join the fun. In addition to kite flying, a plethora of family friendly events will fill Zilker Park including a rock wall climbing, numerous inflatable moonwalks, face painting, children games, displays, and much more will be available. Free parking at the State Parking lots downtown and a free shuttle to the park add to the affordability and fun of the day. For exact dates and more information, visit the Zilker Kite Festival website. Location: Zilker Park, Austin. |
